This activity is the backbone of the unit and promotes the other activities in an effort to gain sustainability. Therefore, the existence of new projects that support the unit’s strategy of growth are fundamental to this activity. Also, international cooperation is being promoted in order to gain advantage from different expertise perspectives. At the moment there are three new projects being developed within the unit’s framework. These include the projects in Intelligent Tool Wear Monitoring and GRID-Computing in support to the areas of tool condition monitoring modeling, and in consequence of the recent certification of our GRID infrastructure by the European EEEG network of parallel computing; and another in the field of sustainable energy and optimization, in response to the latest international trends and given the expertise of our team of researchers.
